Business Planning and Implementation
 One common response that we receive from Business owners when we ask whether they have a Plan is "I don't have time for planning!" In truth, if you are too busy to do a plan, the greater your need for planning. Planning is a Process, not an event. It must be more than the traditional small business planning process (if one exists at at all) where once a year, the Owner and the Accountant sit down and make an estimate of what the P & L will be for the coming year, and then put it on a shelf until the process is repeated next year. The Plan is not a static document that you prepare and then forget about. It should be a living document where specific tasks are assigned to be completed by certain dates, and follow up is done on a regular basis. In some cases three or five year plans are written, but contain a subplan of what is going to be accomplished in the next ninety days. The ninety day plan is entirely related to implementation. In fact, even the three or five year plan must contain much more on implementation than it does on strategy.
